Semarang, July 24, 2026 – The Department of International Relations, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Diponegoro University, organized the Diaspora Alumni Forum “NEXUS 2026: Networks of Exchange and Understanding.” The event, held online via Zoom Meeting from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM WIB, was attended by over 100 participants, including alumni from various batches, students, lecturers, and academic staff of the Department of International Relations, Diponegoro University. Carrying the theme “Networks of Exchange and Understanding,” the event served as a gathering space and a means to strengthen the connection between the department and its alumni through the exchange of experiences, insights, and professional networks.
The event began with remarks from the Chair of the Alumni Association of International Relations, Diponegoro University, a representative of the FISIP Alumni Association, the Head of the Department of International Relations, Diponegoro University, and was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Diponegoro University, represented by the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs. Subsequently, participants joined a cross-border alumni talk session moderated by Kanya Sepasthika Ramadhani, an alumna of International Relations, Diponegoro University, class of 2018, who currently works as a Junior Analyst at Bank Indonesia.

On this occasion, two alumni of International Relations, Diponegoro University, class of 2012, were invited as speakers: Fadil Mahetza Hardanto, a Risk and Fraud Analyst in Malaysia, and Vicky Nauli Barreto, a Public Policy Professional based in the Netherlands. Through their experiences of building careers abroad, both speakers provided perspectives on the wide range of career opportunities available to International Relations graduates in various professional sectors. The discussion covered career journeys, challenges of working in cross-cultural environments, competencies required in the professional world, and the relevance of International Relations graduates’ skills in meeting the demands of an ever-evolving job market. In addition, the discussion also addressed how technological developments, public policy, and sustainability issues are shaping the direction of diplomacy and the current job market. In line with the theme, this session also emphasized that International Relations alumni of Diponegoro University can contribute through various professional pathways while building interconnected networks despite working in different sectors and countries.

The discussion session was highly interactive, with a question-and-answer segment between the speakers and participants. The dialogue provided participants with the opportunity to explore various perspectives on career development, the dynamics of the international job market, and the competencies needed to face global challenges.
Through the organization of the NEXUS 2026 Diaspora Alumni Forum, the Department of International Relations, Diponegoro University, hopes that this event can strengthen the sustainable relationship between alumni and the department, expand international professional networks, and provide broader insights into various career opportunities for students. In line with this commitment, the involvement of alumni is expected to contribute to strengthening the employer reputation of the Department of International Relations, Diponegoro University, while also opening opportunities for sustainable collaboration in both academic and professional fields.
