Department of Politics and Government Science FISIP Undip and Semarang City Government Encourage Digital Literacy Among Youth through Public Lecture Semarang Digital Creative Journey To Campus

Semarang, June 2, 2026 – The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Universitas Diponegoro, through the Department of Politics and Government Science, in collaboration with the Semarang City Office of Communication, Informatics, Statistics, and Encryption (Diskominfo), organized a Public Lecture and MOU Signing event titled Semarang Digital Creative Journey To Campus, themed “Trend, Technology, and Transformation: Youth in the Creative Digital Era.” The event took place at the FISIP Universitas Diponegoro Theater Room, Tembalang, Semarang, on Tuesday (2/6/2026).

This activity is part of efforts to enhance students’ understanding of digital technology developments that are increasingly influencing various aspects of life, from communication and the economy to social and political participation. Through collaboration between higher education institutions and regional government, it is hoped that students can grasp both the challenges and opportunities present in the age of digital transformation and the creative economy.

The event began with the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between Semarang City Diskominfo and the Department of Politics and Government Science FISIP Universitas Diponegoro, as a joint commitment in education, research, community service, and the development of digital literacy, strengthening the capacity of young people in governance and digital transformation. This represents the Sustainability Development Goals of the Semarang City Government and Semarang City Diskominfo.

In his remarks, the Head of the Semarang City Office of Communication, Informatics, Statistics, and Encryption, Didik Dwi Hartono, S.H., Kp., M.M., emphasized the importance of collaboration between the government and higher education in building an inclusive and productive digital ecosystem. According to him, the younger generation has a strategic role in leveraging digital technology to create innovations that have an impact on society and regional development.

The Dean of FISIP Universitas Diponegoro, Dr. Drs. Teguh Yuwono, M.Pol.Admin., conveyed that universities have a responsibility to equip students with adaptive skills, digital literacy, and a critical understanding of the evolving socio-political dynamics in the digital era. He hopes that this activity becomes a platform for dialogue among academics, government, and practitioners to enrich students’ perspectives. In addition, the Government Science Study Program with a concentration in digital politics has achieved the number one ranking nationwide in Indonesia.

The public lecture featured three speakers from different backgrounds to provide multidisciplinary insight. Luthfi Eko Nugroho, S.T., M.T., Head of the Economic and Natural Resources Division of the Semarang City Regional Secretariat, discussed “The Impact of Creative Digital on Semarang City’s Economic Level.” Next, Hanifa Maylasari, M.Sos., Lecturer in Government Science at FISIP Undip, presented material on “Digital Politics and Changes in Youth Behavior in the Era of Global Dynamics.” The final session featured Dona Trisukma, S.T., M.M., influencer and professional content creator, who spoke on “From Content to Influence: Youth Personal Branding Strategy and Digital Creativity.” Following this, Sucahyo Kuswirantomo, S.H., S.Sos., M.H., Head of Public Communication Development at Semarang City Diskominfo, invited participants to explore various issues related to digital media development through the introduction of Semarang Digital Creative.

With approximately 80 participants consisting of students, lecturers, and academic staff, the organizers hope to increase digital literacy, strengthen the spirit of innovation and creativity, and encourage the productive and responsible use of technology. Additionally, this activity is expected to serve as a bridge between academia, government, and the creative industry in preparing an adaptive, competitive, and technology-ready young generation to face global changes.
