Youth Talk on AI: Undip International Relations Student Critically Engages at the 2026 DPR RI Youth Parliamentary

Jakarta, April 29, 2026 – Nadhifa Nasmah Ramadhani, a student of International Relations at Diponegoro University, took part in the 2026 DPR RI Youth Parliamentary program, held from April 26 to 29, 2026, in Jakarta. This prestigious program brought together students from various universities across Indonesia to collectively examine a strategic issue: the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) within government bureaucracy.

Over four days, participants were fully immersed in the dynamics of modern bureaucracy. They received materials from technology and public policy experts, engaged in critical discussions, and participated in parliamentary simulation sessions focusing on the impacts, challenges, and pros and cons of using AI in governance. Through this interactive format, the activity fostered an academic atmosphere that encouraged students to think both analytically and reflectively about the future of digital bureaucracy.

The program was further enriched by visits to several strategic institutions. At the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), participants delved into research and technological innovation, including AI development for government sectors. Meanwhile, at the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi), students gained insights into digital transformation policies, data security, and strategies for utilizing AI in public services. A visit to the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs (Kemenko PMK) opened perspectives on integrating technology into social, educational, and cultural development.

The experience continued with a visit to the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) to understand central-regional governance and the ministry’s role in public administration. The agenda was completed with a visit to CNN Indonesia, providing a real-life picture of how media plays a role in conveying public policy issues and technological developments to the wider community. The peak of the activity took place at the DPR RI, where students participated in a parliamentary simulation discussing regulations and ethics regarding AI use in bureaucracy.

Nadhifa, representing Undip International Relations, said, “I am very happy to have been able to participate in the Youth Parliamentary activity. I gained a lot of new knowledge, not only about the benefits of AI but also the issues and challenges that may arise in bureaucracy. The discussion sessions and the trial simulation made me enthusiastic about continuing to be critical.”

This experience is expected to serve as a catalyst for the younger generation to continuously sharpen their critical thinking skills, understand the role of technology in governance, and prepare themselves for the challenges of bureaucracy in the digital era. Through the active involvement of students, the 2026 DPR RI Youth Parliamentary proves that the voices and thoughts of the younger generation have a real contribution in shaping the direction of future public policy.
