Semarang (12/9) – The first day of IRUD Summer Course 2022 was opened with an opening ceremony. The ceremony included opening remarks from the Dean of Faculty of Social Science and Political Science, Dr. Drs. Hadi Warsono, MT, the Chairperson of the International Relations Department, Dr. Reni Windiani, M.S and the Project Officer of IRUD Summer Course 2022, Ms. Anjani Tri Fatharini, M.A then followed by a program overview to give a glimpse into what the participants would be doing in the program. Especially in terms of environmental issues from a local and global perspective and introducing the speaker and their expertise in each lecturing session. This opening ceremony was attended by 52 participants, from both international (Japan, Pakistan, Tanzania, and Malaysia) and local students. Among participants, this event was attended by three professional participants, from Balai Besar Wilayah Sungai Bengawan Solo, Kawal Borneo Community Foundation and the Conversation Indonesia.
Concerning the topic of the event, The Dean of the Faculty had several important messages related to environmental issues delivered in his speech. He emphasized that a comprehensive strategy and action in dealing with problems related to the environment were necessary. He also conveyed that developing consciousness and a sense of responsibility were needed in dealing with environmental threats.
Besides, the Chairperson of the International Relations Department said that this summer course was aimed to increase the number of inbound international students and international faculty staff from universities abroad, build spin-off programs on top-themed programs and build an international reputation with the international community. She also hoped this activity could be an arena for exchanging thoughts and experiences for the young generation among nations that would positively contribute to a safer and healthier environment for future generations.
The session then proceeds to performances by HI Band and Vocal Group IRUD. Before the ceremony was finished, a photo session was done.
