In the era of globalization, information is rapidly disseminated online. According to data from the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII), the number of internet users has reached 221,563,479. With technological advancements, several villages are now sharing information about their development through village websites. Based on data from the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, 60 percent of the total 75,000 villages under their guidance are now connected with Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (Kominfo) plays a role in encouraging all villages in Indonesia to connect with ICT by providing free domain and hosting for village websites for one year. This makes it easier for village officials to share information about the state of their villages.
Because of this, students from Diponegoro University’s Community Service Program (KKN) Team II and village officials are collaborating in managing the village website. This activity took place during the 3rd and 4th weeks of the KKN Team II 2023/2024 implementation. The program ran according to the planned schedule, from July 25 to August 7, 2024. One of the monodisciplinary work programs was developed by Dina Puspita Wulandari, a Public Administration student from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences.
The program focuses on the rapid dissemination of information through the village website and the transparency of Babadan Village’s government to the community. In the ever-evolving digital era, village websites have become crucial in strengthening connectivity and public services at the village level. The Babadan Village website is an online platform that allows the village to communicate, provide information, and deliver services to its residents.
Additionally, the village website makes it easier for village officials to share information about their village with many parties. Through the Babadan Village website, people can access data on population, income, land area, village potential, village budget (APBDes), government and village official profiles, village demographics, and information services such as document services and service procedures. This data can also be used for welfare mapping, population distribution, and helping the village government identify the potential of Babadan Village. Here are some benefits of the Babadan Village website:
- Transparency and Openness
The village government website facilitates communication between the community and the government. Residents can access financial reports, development outcomes, and information about policies, programs, and budgets. - Easy Access to Information
Through the village website, residents can easily obtain important information such as activity schedules, announcements, regulations, and the latest news. - Increased Public Participation
The village website allows residents to actively participate in village development. They can provide feedback, submit requests, and interact with the village government through the platform.
According to Mr. Saryono, Secretary of Babadan Village, “Website management will run well if focused on one administrator. It is hoped that the optimal benefits can be obtained from having a village website,” he said on Tuesday, August 5, 2024.
It is hoped that the Babadan Village website will make it easier for village officials to share information with the residents. The village government should regularly upload the latest information about the village. In the future, this data can be used for welfare mapping, population distribution, and helping the government identify the potential of the village for promotion.
