The increasing amount of household organic waste that has not been optimally processed raises concerns and serious environmental problems. Eco enzymes are expected to be an eco-friendly solution to reduce household waste while providing economic benefits to the community. Students from Undip’s Community Service Program (KKN) Team II, assigned to Banyuputih Village, held an innovative multidisciplinary program to produce eco enzymes on Sunday, August 4, 2024, in Lokojoyo Hamlet, Banyuputih Village. This program was carried out in collaboration with the local Women’s Farming Group (KWT). The main goal of this activity is to educate the community on how to process organic waste into useful products, while also reducing the negative impact of waste on the environment.

This program targets the women’s farming group as the primary audience, given their crucial role in managing households and the environment. Additionally, the involvement of KWT in this program is expected to strengthen collective awareness about the importance of eco-friendly waste management and transform waste disposal habits into productive recycling practices.

The benefits of this program go beyond reducing the volume of organic waste, such as kitchen waste, that ends up in landfills. It also opens new economic opportunities for the community. The eco enzymes produced can be used as natural cleaners, liquid fertilizers, and even pest repellents, all of which have high utility value and are environmentally friendly. Thus, this program not only supports environmental sustainability but also empowers the community’s economy.

Through this activity, Undip’s community service program students hope to create a lasting positive impact on Banyuputih Village. By teaching the process of making eco enzymes, they are not only providing practical solutions for waste management but also encouraging the community to become more environmentally conscious and to utilize the potential of the organic waste around them.
