Thematic Community Service Program for Community-Based Ecotourism Potential Development in Tambakbulusan Village, Karangtengah District, Demak Regency

Tourism is a sector that plays an important role in national development. Tourism contributes greatly to increasing economic growth, creating many jobs, thereby reducing poverty (The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, 2011).

In village development, the existence of Village Owned Enterprises (BUMDES) plays an important role in optimizing the utilization of village potential for the welfare of rural communities. BumdesIstambul Karya” is a village-owned enterprise located in Tambakbulusan Village, Karangtengah District, Demak Regency. This Bumdes manages the Glagahwangi Beach tourist area, at Demak Regency in order to increase its income, so that it will also contribute to improving the welfare of the surrounding community.

Considering the potential and problems that exist in the location, a Community Service program from the Department of Business Administration was arranged. It was then followed up by involving students in multidisciplinary science through the Thematic Community Service Program (ThematicKKN) for Community-Based Ecotourism Potential Development in Tambakbulusan Village, Karangtengah District, Demak Regency.

The potential of Istanbul community-based ecotourism at Glagah Wangi Beach, Tambakbulusan Village, Demak Regency needs to be developed, and it involves 40 students from various Universitas Diponegoro faculties to join and participate in developing the potential of Istanbul Demak. The registration for Thematic KKN was held on April 25 – May 6, 2022, followed by outreach activities on May 12, 2022, Debriefing for Thematic KKN on May 24, 2022, in room B.203 FISIP UNDIP.

The Thematic Community Service Program is divided into 5 themes, namely Website and Social Media, Health, Mapping (Potential), Law, and Local Wisdom. Representatives from the KKN team conducted a preliminary survey to the location in Tambakbulusan Village, Karangtengah District, Demak Regency on Thursday, May 26, 2022, by meeting related officials.
