The Ministry of Education and Culture, Research and Technology, has made a guideline regarding the admission scheme of new undergraduate students that must be carried out by State Universities in Indonesia (see Regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 6 of 2020). There are three main pathways for undergraduate students, namely the State University National Entrance Exam (based on students’ achievement) (SNMPTN), Joint Selection for State University (SBMPTN) and Independent Selection. In accordance with the regulation, UNDIP will receive a minimum of 20% of the SNMPTN, 30% of the SBMPTN and a maximum of 50% of the Independent selection.
Vice-Rector I for Academic and Student Affairs UNDIP, Prof. Faisal, SE, M.Sc., Ph.D., in an interview on Friday (14/1/2022) explained that the capacity in 2022 was around 10 thousand seats, so the allocation provided for the SNMPTN path was at least 2,000 prospective students. Moreover, Prof. Faisal explained the requirements to pass the SNMPTN, including:
- Students who have academic achievements in their schools
- Students who have enrolled in a study program that is in the same area, for example, those who take science class in high school may take the science group study program, and those who take the social studies in high school may take the social studies group, and the language class takes the language group
- Students who have non-academic achievement can upload the certificate as additional points
- Students are advised to coordinate with their respective school counselling guidance teachers to choose study programs according to their interests and in which there is no intense competition within their high school.
The high enthusiasm is seen in different programs every year. To find out how it works, you can access it on the pmb.undip.ac.id page. According to the enthusiasm in the 2021 SNMPTN, the data showed that in Social and Humanities Study Programs such as in Psychology, there were 1750 participants, Communication Science with 1387 participants and Law with 1378 participants. Meanwhile, for Science and Technology study programs such as the Medical Study Program with 1433 participants, Public Health with 1354 participants and Nursing with 1191 participants.
Regarding UNDIP’s consideration of accepting prospective students through the State University National Entrance Exam (based on students’ achievement) (SNMPTN), it was stated that this pathway was carried out nationally by the Higher Education Entrance Test Institute (LTMPT), which selection is based on the academic report and other supporting achievements. Currently, schools have coordinated their students to participate in the selection by uploading the academic report and students validating these scores according to the results they received. Students can also add supporting data for non-academic achievements that can be used as additional points. All things that have been outlined by LTMPT will be carried out by UNDIP. There is no particular priority for any region, all will be based on student achievements and school achievement.
Regarding the amount of tuition fee for those who have passed the SNMPTN selection, it will be determined according to the criteria of the income of the parents/guardians, where the prospective students submit a proposal for a registration Tuition fee application. The determination of the grade is based on data entered for the validation of the application data and if the prospective student does not apply for the tuition fee, they will automatically get the highest grade of the tuition fee. Furthermore, those who wish to apply for tuition fees are required to learn in detail the tuition fee form and the file requirements that must be met.
