In the 17 subject areas that were rated, Undip’s name was in an honorable position in 9 fields of study that were ranked by SIR.

While in the world ranking, the position ranged from 326th to 947th. There was no more subject that passed the World 1,000 position. There were even two subjects that had been in the best 500. The complete results could be seen in the table.

As he was asked for his response on this matter, the Undip Rector, Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama SH MHum hoped that this achievement was an indication that the campus he led had received recognition at the world level. “Undip’s goal of becoming an excellent research university and world class university can be realized by the increasing quality of the research, innovation and its impact on the wider community. It’s not easy to achieve, but that doesn’t mean we can’t,” said Prof. Yos Johan, Wednesday (28/4/2021).

As an overview, the Scimago Institutions Rankings (SIR) were the world ranking data that assessed the relevance of the public to the research in institutions. There were 5 groups of institutions that were assessed, namely university, government, health, company, and non-profit organization.

There were 3 indicators used to measure it, namely the research performance (weighted 50%), innovation output (weight 30%), and social impact (weight 20%). In doing the measurements, SCImago utilized the web visibility and Scopus data processing. For the research performance, the SIR assessment included the number of journals, international collaborations, open access, and the number of quality publications that had received a lot of public citation. For the assessment of the innovation, it included the number of publications cited in patents and the number of patent applications produced. Meanwhile, the social impact assessment was measured by the number of mention publications through various social media platforms as well as the number of visits to the websites or institutional sites.
