The steps to encourage the realization of the Corporate Sustainability included discussing it with the environmental experts and corporate leaders.

The Corporate Governance and Sustainability webinar with the theme “Corporate Strategy to Realize the Corporate Sustainability and Synergize Profits, People and Planet, to achieve the Corporate Sustainability”, was attended by FISIP Undip Business Administration’s Lecturer who was also an environmental expert, Prof. Sudharto P Hadi MES PhD; as well as the Director of PT Aisin Indonesia, PB Ariawan Purwonugroho.

In an online discussion moderated by the Head of the Department of Business Administration, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Bulan Prabawani SSos MM PhD, the corporate sustainability as a business strategy and activities that met the needs of the companies and stakeholders while protecting, maintaining and enhancing the human and natural resources that will be needed in the future, was discussed by the speakers through their perspective and competence. The Director of PT Aisin Indonesia, Ariawan Purwonugroho, said that the company he led described the concern on environmental, social and corporate governance by using the eco friendly materials, including in the energy using.

This initiative was expected to contribute to the environment and society. “One of the concrete steps taken by the Aisin Corporation is to focus on global warming,” explained Ariawan

The corporation whose business base was to produce automotive components had also taken the initiative to participate in improving the quality of life and building an eco friendly society. One of them was through activities that promote health and prosperity that make it easier for the elderly to travel by providing product services in the form of Line Car Navigation.

Undip Professor of Environmental Sciences, Prof. Sudharto P Hadi, who taught the courses on Corporate Governance and Corporate Sustainability, explained that corporate sustainability was primarily about synergizing the triple bottom line, namely how to integrate the importance of the profit, people, and the environment or planet. Primarily on the environment that was affected by the company activities. “Sustainable business is a business effort that minimizes the negative environmental and social impacts. So that, the future generations will have adequate resources to meet their needs,” he explained.

According to him, sustainable business was not only safe for the environment, but this business should also have good quality to succeed in the competitive global market. “Sustainable business is a business model that manages the triple bottom line in which companies manage their finances as well as their social and environmental impacts.”

In the webinar which was attended by the undergraduate, postgraduate students and lecturers, as well as the public society, on Friday (17/4/2021), Prof. Sudharto explained that the business performance known as the triple bottom line which was often called the 3P refered to the integration of the ecological and social performances in relation to the financial performance. The triple bottom line was also often referred to as the three pillars of social, environmental and economic demand.

The concept of corporate sustainability was a concept that was still interpreted differently by many researchers. However, almost all of them involved three dimensions, namely the economic sustainability, environmental sustainability, and social sustainability. Differences also occured with the models and measurement indicator. Quantitatively, the corporate sustainability could be measured using the economic dimensions, environmental dimensions and social dimensions which could be demonstrated through a time series regression equation.
