Kebumen, September 28, 2025 – The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at Universitas Diponegoro (FISIP Undip) has once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through an international community service program at various religious educational institutions across Central Java. A recent session was held on Saturday, September 28, 2025, at Al Kamal Islamic Boarding School (Pesantren) in Kebumen, Central Java.

This initiative follows a previous international service program held at MTsN 3 Tegal, which engaged over 600 students and 20 teachers. At Al Kamal Islamic Boarding School, the program involved 160 participants, comprising students from the senior high school (MA), vocational high school (SMK), and junior high school (MTs) levels, as well as teachers within the pesantren community.

The event featured a keynote speaker by Dr. Nor Ismah from the National University of Singapore. Dr. Ismah shared valuable insights on the importance of gender equality and the role of higher education in creating equal opportunities for all members of society, particularly for women in religious educational settings.

The program also included presentations from two FISIP Undip lecturers, Wahid Abdulrahman and Nuriyatul Lailiyah. Wahid Abdulrahman, who also serves as a member of the Central Java Regional Development Acceleration Team (TPPD), conveyed concrete support from the Central Java Provincial Government in the form of scholarship opportunities for santri (Islamic boarding school students) to pursue higher education.

The enthusiasm of the participants, both at MTsN 3 Tegal and Al Kamal Islamic Boarding School, was evident from the numerous questions and active discussions throughout the sessions. This reflects the high motivation of students and santri from religious educational institutions to continue learning and developing, despite facing various limitations.

Nuriyatul Lailiyah, a representative from the Communication Science Department of FISIP Undip, expressed her hope that this program would inspire more students and santri to confidently pursue the highest levels of education. “This spirit of community service aligns with Undip’s vision to continuously provide the broadest possible benefits for society,” she stated.

Through this international community service, FISIP Undip is not only disseminating the values of the SDGs but also strengthening the collaboration between universities and religious educational institutions to cultivate a generation that is excellent, inclusive, and highly competitive.***
