Semarang, June 4, 2025 — The Master’s Program in Business Administration, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Diponegoro University held a Practitioner Lecture event titled “Financial Literacy for the Millennial Generation: Building a Healthy Financial Future” on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at 2:00 PM WIB, located at FIMENA FISIP UNDIP.

The event was officially opened by Dr. Reni Shinta Dewi, S.Sos., M.Si., Head of the Undergraduate Program in Business Administration, who emphasized in her remarks the importance of financial literacy as a core competency that must be possessed by the younger generation—especially in facing the challenges of the digital economy and an era of financial information transparency.

An opening speech was also delivered by Dyah Puspamurti, Branch Head of Bank Mandiri UNDIP, who underscored Bank Mandiri’s commitment to supporting financial education from an early age, particularly for university students as future economic actors.

Practitioner Lecture Sessions

The event featured two speakers from the financial industry:

  1. Nivea Paradita – Priority Banking Officer at Bank Mandiri, delivered a session titled “Financial Planning for a Better Future”, covering key aspects of personal financial planning, including how to create a budget, set up an emergency fund, manage debt, and the importance of asset protection through insurance. She also highlighted the 50/30/20 rule for managing expenses—50% for essentials, 30% for wants, and 20% for savings or investment—as well as how to distinguish between needs and wants.
  2. Mario Firmansyah – Relationship Officer at Mandiri Sekuritas, presented a session titled “Investment as Your Lifestyle.” In this talk, participants learned the basics of investing in the capital market, including understanding risk profiles, different investment instruments (stocks, bonds, mutual funds), and strategies such as Dollar Cost Averaging and Lump Sum investing. He emphasized the importance of investing in legal and OJK-registered companies and introduced Livin’ by Mandiri as a user-friendly investment platform.

The session was moderated by Dr. Andi Wijayanto, S.Sos., M.Si., Head of the Master’s Program in Business Administration at FISIP UNDIP. In his remarks, he stated that collaboration between academics and industry practitioners is vital to bridge theoretical knowledge with real-world dynamics experienced in the industry.

Strong Student Engagement and Enthusiasm

The practitioner lecture was attended by both graduate and undergraduate students who showed great enthusiasm throughout the session. Many participants asked questions about how to start their first investment, how to avoid investment fraud, and how to choose financial instruments that suit their personal conditions and goals. The discussion was interactive and practical, enhancing students’ understanding of the importance of being financially literate from a young age.

Through this event, it is hoped that FISIP UNDIP students will gain a stronger understanding of personal financial management and become a financially savvy generation ready to face future economic challenges.
